Capote Provokes In Cold Blood Book Sales
The Oscar nominated film Capote, which tells the story of gay writer Truman Capote's creation of the "nonfiction novel" In Cold Blood is sending film audiences to buy that very book. The "tie-in" edition of In Cold Blood is currently in its third printing. Barnes & Noble claims book sales for the title are up almost 30% from last year and it was the top selling book for Barnes and Noble in October 2005.
The highly acclaimed film is based on the book Capote: A Biography, by Gerald Clarke, which has also seen a recent upsurge in sales. Philip Seymour Hoffman plays the lead role of Truman Capote and has won a best actor nomination for his performance. The film is nominated for a total of five Academy Awards, and has already several industry awards.
