Organic Baby Food Sales on the Rise
More and more parents are choosing to feed their babies organic baby food, fearing the health effects of pesticides, antibiotics, hormones and other potentially harmful substances.
Parents have purchased more than 17% more organic baby food than in the previous year, and organic baby foods are now appearing in mainstream stores such as Babies R Us.
"Kids should be able to eat a diet rich in fruits and vegetables without risking brain or nerve damage," says Richard Wiles, lead author of the Environmental Working Group's study on children's exposure to pesticides.
According to the Environmental Working Group's "Report Card: Pesticides in Produce", some fruits and vegetable are much more likely to be contaminated by pesticide residue, and the organization suggests buying organic products at least for those that are most contaminated.
