Memoirs of a Geisha, the Movie
Memoirs of a Geisha, the best-selling novel by Arthur Golden, will finally grace the big screen this Winter. Geisha is the story of Nitta Sayuri, who is sold to a geisha house at the age of 9. She goes through training to become a geisha, and lives her life as one. Ziyi Zhang, of House of Flying Daggers and Hero, plays the starring role as Nitta Sayuri.
The stellar cast also includes Ken Watanabe, Gong Li, Michelle Yeoh, Koji Yakusho, Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa and Tsai Chin. The film is directed by Rob Marshall, who might be best known for his recent work directing Chicago.
