Burning Man Particpants Return Home
While the Hurricane Katrina disaster was unfolding, tens of thousands of artists and revellers gathered, unaware, in the Nevada desert for the annual Burning Man event.
Begun as a small gathering on a San Francisco beach in 1986, the event has grown to welcome upwards of 35,000 participants who journey to Gerlach, Nevada in the Black Rock Desert to celebrate art, music and life.
The participants build an entire city called Black Rock City in the course of several weeks, and the artworks displayed there are extraordinary in size, scope and creativity. View the Burning Man Photo Gallery or Flickr photos of Burning Man. Read more in: Burning Man at 20.
